Main Street Tehachapi's Valentine's Wine & Chocolate Tasting Celebration on the SATURDAY before Valentine's Day, February 11, 2012 - 5:30 to 9 p.m. Call 661-822-6519 for more information. This event sets the mood for love and friendship and is a favorite during this season. You and your sweetheart or loved ones will taste a variety of fine wines and chocolates.
That evening you will receive 10 tasting tickets and a map of the participating Downtown businesses at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 on day of the event. Tickets will be available at The Apple Shed Restaurant, Kohnen's Country Bakery, Picture Perfect , Postal ASAP, or Tehachapi Flower Shop. You can also get tickets by sending a check to the Main Street Tehachapi office at P.O. Box 830, Tehachapi, CA 93581. Or call us at 822-6519. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Our local Non-Profit organization takes its lead from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. They have developed a pioneering Main Street approach to commercial district revitalization, an innovative methodology that combines historic preservation with economic development to restore prosperity and vitality to downtowns and neighborhood business districts.
Today, the message has spread, as the Center advocates a comprehensive approach that rural and urban communities alike can use to revitalize their traditional commercial areas through historic preservation and grassroots-based economic development. It has created a network of more than 40 statewide, citywide, and countywide Main Street programs with more than 2,000 active Main Street programs nationally. For those of us who live in this beautiful area, we know that rapid development comes with a price. Growth changes a lot of things in a rural community, and vital areas of town—like downtown—often fall into disrepair. In a place like Tehachapi, our downtown is sort of like our calling card. For visitors coming through, it’s often their first impression of our community. For people who live and work here, it’s a place to gather, to meet friends, and to earn a living. You know that Tehachapi is a great place to live, and our downtown should be the center of our community—a vibrant, thriving place with great family events and unique, fun places to shop, eat, and enjoy the company of friends and family. We would like to update you on Main Street Tehachapi, a non-profit volunteer organization devoted to improving downtown Tehachapi for the benefit of everyone who lives, works, and visits here. We are extending a personal invitation for you to join this active group—and to help make Tehachapi an even better place to live in 2012.
